Welcome to Snowden Farm Elementary PTA

Hello Stallion families,

Thank you for the wonderful and amazing first year for our new school! Even though activities in the Spring were curtailed by COV-19, we were able to share many wonderful events and experiences together as a community.

We started events in the Fall with a walk to school day followed by a Trunk or Treat. Book Fair with a winter theme included a Grandparent cafe breakfast. In the winter, our children displayed their spelling skills at the Spelling Bee. They also exhibited their appreciation of cultures at our Heritage Night. Our families also came together to enjoy the fun Bingo Night and helped to raise money for our PTA at the Silent Auction & Family Dance. We also had a few meetups at our Spirit Nights. The PTA showed our appreciation to the staff. We had numerous appreciation snacks and meals. We also provided stipends to the teachers and staff.

All these events would not have been possible without the support of our parents, teachers, and staff. Principal Allen has been extraordinarily supportive of our activities, helping us with logistics, and giving us great advice. Also, we acknowledge all those who helped the PTA financially by purchasing a Founding membership. We will present the plaque at the next general membership meeting. Finally, I must thank all those who volunteered with the PTA. Without your help, we would not have been able to put on these wonderful activities.

On a personal note, I would like to thank all the members of the Board for all the help and dedication they have to the PTA. In addition, the executive committee worked really hard to get the PTA up and running this charter year. I am forever grateful for all that you have done for the school and PTA. An extra-special thank you to Amanda, Sadaf, Katie, Kevin, Shilpa, and Simit.

As we enter the summer months, there is no doubt we are all continuing to adjust to this new reality together. Now more than ever it is critically important to keep kids engaged in summer reading to ensure their academic success in the fall. Scholastic has committed to providing at-home learning over the summer months with Scholastic Summer Read-a-Palooza.

Please visit out Scholastic Virtual Book Fair all summer long, through September 4, to discover new characters, series, and adventures. All orders will ship directly to your home and book only orders over $25 ship free.

Scholastic is also providing a new program called Home Base, which is a fun, safe, and completely free online destination where kids can create their own avatar, interact with their favorite Scholastic characters, play games, and read books. Home Base is moderated 24/7. Kids will be able to visit a special Scholastic Summer Read-a-Palooza zone where they can start and keep their reading streaks, earn special rewards, and more. At any point during the summer, kids can download and print a report of their reading progress to share with their parent, educator, librarian, or group leader.

Home Base is available on the web at scholastic.com/homebase, and as an app for both Apple and Android devices.

Due to the pandemic, our yearbooks have been delayed and have not yet been delivered. Communication regarding yearbook distribution will come from Mrs Allen once those details have been decided.

We are eager to receive your feedback and suggestions at info@sfespta.org We look forward to wonderful events in the next academic year!

If the kids missed any of my distance learning lessons, or if they would like to watch them again, they can view them on the site. There is also a "Community Resources page, Parent Resource page, a STALLION Student Social- Emotional Activities page, a "Relaxation Station" page and my Distance learning lessons page. I update the site weekly, as I am always searching for more resources
